2009 is going OH SO FINE!!!

Little Anthony and the Imperials, Delbert McClinton, Mary Wilson and the Supremes, Lloyd Jones Struggle and the Sunbanks All-Stars featuring Kathi McDonald and Patti Allen are some of the groups I've had the pleasure of performing with this year. Little Anthony and the Imperials were inducted to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame over the summer; so its been an awesome year for LAI which still features the original singers. The rhythm section hails from New York and Nashville. I contracted the horns and second keyboards on several dates which inclued several great trumpet players, Grammy winner Terry Townson, Vern Seilert who leads the Jazz Dept. at the U. of Idaho and Andy Fuller who had just finished a tour with the Doobie Brothers. I'm looking forward to more good times with LAI.....Delbert McClinton was lots of fun too. His band is so locked in on his groove and soulfullness that the "moan is in the tone" gets everybody up; they all wanna dance! Dennis Taylor plays the tenor sax chair and I told him that I really dig his book "Blues Saxophone" its an in-depth look at the styles of the Masters, he hit a home run with this book.......Mary Wilson of The Supremes brought back a ton of memories. Her band from LA was oh so tight, again I had the opportunity to contract the horns plus a percussion player for her shows......Lloyd Jones is one of the hardest working cats in the Fonky, R&B Blues scene. His writing chops are always inspired. This band really cooked at the Waterfront Blues Festival in Portland, Concert in the Woods at Mukilteo Coffee Company which is located on beautiful Whidbey Island and last but not least the Jazz in June Festival in Norman, OK....There' a new CD comin' atcha soon for sure!!!!! Stay Tuned!!!!

Many thanks to the 'cool cats' at DD Productions for 'making the show go.' Check it all out and let me know what you think - I'll dig the feedback.

Let’s start with some of the fantastic highlights from last year. There were many wonderful venues I had the privilege of performing at in 2008. Dr. John and the Lower 911 was one of the highlights. Our west coast tour with Dr. John included some outta sight festivals.... We were featured at the 30th anniversary Playboy Jazz Festival at the Hollywood Bowl, the Britt Festival in Southern Oregon, Oregon Zoo Ampitheatre in Portland, and back home again in Seattle at the Chateau St. Michelle Winery. With Lloyd Jones Struggle and Zen Blues we played from Victoria B.C. Music Festival, to the beautiful San Juan Theater at Friday Harbor, the Sun Banks and Mt. Baker Blues Festivals, and on and on...

I was also grateful to be part of a show recorded live at Jazz Alley in Seattle – which was a concert that benefited Habitat for Humanity (for the victims of Hurricane Katrina). Jeremy Ryan assembled a cast of some of N’AWLINS finest musicians, which included Dr. John’s Lower 911 rhythm section and Harry Connick Jr.’s featured soloists.

There were a slew of world class artists that I had the opportunity to work with... Dr. John and the lower 911, Zen Blues w/ the Bad Boise Horns, Lloyd Jones Struggle, and many other talented artists. Some of the top drawer players that I've been performing with include: Steve Ferrone (Tom Petty, Eric Clapton, Zen Blues), Ben Smith (Heart), Ronnie Foster (George Benson, Grant Green), Terry Townson (Delbert McClinton, Colin James), Leroy Jones (Harry Connick Jr.), Tim Scott (Zen Blues, Tower of Power), John March (Sting, Zen Blues), John Fohl (Dr. John), Craig Klein (Harry Connick Jr., Bonearama), and Herman ‘Roscoe’ Ernest III (Dr. John).

- Robbie

P.S. The pictures that you see scrolling above include: Mac (Dr. John) down at the Playboy Jazz Fest, The JoTown Horns, Terry & Robbie w/ Delbert McClinton, New Orleans All-Stars recorded live @ Jazz Alley and Llloyd Jones Struggle.
